Homework is an important way to support your child’s learning. It also helps families see what we are learning in school. In year 2, we do the following homework:
Every day: Read your reading book and get your reading record signed by a grown-up at home.
Monday: Spelling test on last week’s words.
Tuesday: Hand in your homework.
Thursday: Take your new spellings and homework home.
Remember, ‘little and often’ is best with reading. Just 5-10 minutes a day at home really helps.
Spellings will be based on the learning we have done that week in phonics. You need to ‘Look, say, cover, write and check’ each word several times. (Please don’t just copy them out once.)
This year we are using separate English and Maths homework books, and you will do English one week, then Maths the next. Look on the back to check which page to do each week. (Parents – please don’t do extra pages, as we will be using these books for the whole year.) Homework will be based on the learning we have done in school.
We may sometimes send an extra homework task or activity home, to link to our topics in school.
If you have any questions or need help, please just ask.
